How I approach each test

SAT

Standardized doesn’t mean simple — especially not on the SAT. The redesigned exam emphasizes reading comprehension, data interpretation, and adaptive logic in a digital format, demanding more than just memorization. Whether it’s algebraic fluency, grammar nuance, or deep textual analysis, I help students uncover what the test is really asking — and how to answer with confidence.

I’ve coached students from 1280 to 1500+, even after they’d hit a wall with other tutors. My methods focus on:

  • Diagnosing why a student is missing questions (not just which ones)

  • Building pattern recognition with real College Board material

  • Teaching mental frameworks that apply across question types

Every student learns differently, so no two prep plans are the same — but every one is designed to unlock higher performance, not just more practice.

GMAT

The GMAT is the ultimate stress test for business school applicants — and beating it requires more than just academic skills. You need data sufficiency strategy, sentence correction finesse, and the ability to think critically under pressure. I coach students to recognize GMAT patterns, eliminate wasted motion, and build a calm, confident approach to test day.

Whether you’re gunning for a 700+ or making a comeback after a tough first attempt, I’ll help you:

  • Master algebra and number properties without overthinking

  • Navigate critical reasoning like a seasoned MBA applicant

  • Streamline your reading and quant processing speed

My coaching blends test strategy with mindset training — because the GMAT doesn’t just test what you know. It tests how you respond under pressure. Let’s make sure your best performance shows up when it counts.

LSAT

The LSAT is no longer what it used to be — and that's a good thing. With the removal of the Logic Games section in August 2024, the test now places even greater emphasis on reading comprehension and logical reasoning. That means success hinges on critical thinking, clarity of argumentation, and time-tested strategies for interpreting complex language — all skills I specialize in teaching.

I’ve helped countless students:

  • Break through performance plateaus with argument structure training

  • Develop methodical pacing and section timing strategies

  • Achieve dramatic score jumps by identifying core logical fallacies

If law school is the goal, the path starts with mastering how to think like a lawyer — and we’ll get there, together.

I had already worked with a few other tutors before I found Kenneth — but I could never break past the 1300s. No matter how many practice tests I took or how many tips I memorized, I felt like I had hit a wall. I was really frustrated and down on myself.

Kenneth changed that immediately. He didn’t throw a bunch of one-size-fits-all tricks at me. He actually took the time to understand how I think — where I was strong, where I was guessing, and where I was overthinking. He made the reading and grammar sections feel logical, not random. And for the first time, I understood why I was getting things wrong.

His focus on critical thinking was a game-changer. Instead of memorizing rules, I learned how to read like the test makers wanted me to — what they were really asking, what was bait, and how to stay grounded. Every session was tailored to what I needed that week — no wasted time, no fluff.

I ended up going from a 1280 to a 1500. That number still shocks me when I say it. But even beyond the score, I walked into the test center calm and confident for the first time. I knew I could handle whatever they threw at me — and I did.

I thought I had everything figured out. My SAT score was decent, I had the grades, and I was eyeing Ivy League schools like everyone else in my circle. But none of it really felt right — the campuses, the course offerings, even the vibe just didn’t seem like me. That’s where Kenneth came in.

He helped me slow down and look beyond prestige. We talked through what kind of academic structure, campus culture, and social life would actually make me happy. West Coast vs. East Coast. Big city vs. college town. Liberal arts vs. pre-professional focus. These weren’t questions I had really thought about until he made them central to the process. In the end, I applied to a more thoughtful mix of schools — and I actually got excited about where I could land.”

But it didn’t stop there. I had been stuck in the 1400s for months, even after working with two other tutors. Kenneth changed that. He broke the SAT down in a way that finally clicked for me — especially the reading sections. He helped me jump from a 1480 to a 1570, which I genuinely didn’t think was possible. I went into the test calm, clear, and confident. I still remember walking out of that exam feeling like, 'I nailed it.'

And the essays? That was the scariest part for me. I didn’t have a dramatic story, and my life felt pretty “normal.” Kenneth helped me find meaning in moments I hadn’t thought twice about — and then shaped those into essays that sounded like me. Not like a template. Not like something I found on Reddit. Just… real.

Looking back, I didn’t just get better scores or better essays. I got clarity. Confidence. And a college list I was truly excited about. Kenneth helped make that happen.
