Over 20 years helping students succeed
Personalized test prep and admissions counseling that works.
I began my career as the youngest Master Trainer at The Princeton Review, and that early recognition laid the foundation for becoming one of the most sought-after independent tutors and advisors in the industry today. Over the last two decades, I’ve taught more than 4,000 students in test prep and higher education admissions at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Working with me means you’ll never get a cookie-cutter lesson or recycled worksheet. I’ve spent decades mastering every nuance of these tests, but I don’t just teach “tricks.” I start by analyzing your unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning style, then adapt my approach to match how you think—and challenge you to stretch when needed. The same philosophy guides my work in college counseling: every student’s path is different, and I help you shape not just stronger scores, but stronger applications.

I thought I had everything figured out. My SAT score was decent, I had the grades, and I was eyeing Ivy League schools like everyone else in my circle. But none of it really felt right — the campuses, the course offerings, even the vibe just didn’t seem like me. That’s where Kenneth came in.
He helped me slow down and look beyond prestige. We talked through what kind of academic structure, campus culture, and social life would actually make me happy. West Coast vs. East Coast. Big city vs. college town. Liberal arts vs. pre-professional focus. These weren’t questions I had really thought about until he made them central to the process. In the end, I applied to a more thoughtful mix of schools — and I actually got excited about where I could land.”
But it didn’t stop there. I had been stuck in the 1400s for months, even after working with two other tutors. Kenneth changed that. He broke the SAT down in a way that finally clicked for me — especially the reading sections. He helped me jump from a 1480 to a 1570, which I genuinely didn’t think was possible. I went into the test calm, clear, and confident. I still remember walking out of that exam feeling like, 'I nailed it.'
And the essays? That was the scariest part for me. I didn’t have a dramatic story, and my life felt pretty “normal.” Kenneth helped me find meaning in moments I hadn’t thought twice about — and then shaped those into essays that sounded like me. Not like a template. Not like something I found on Reddit. Just… real.
Looking back, I didn’t just get better scores or better essays. I got clarity. Confidence. And a college list I was truly excited about. Kenneth helped make that happen.

I had already worked with a few other tutors before I found Kenneth — but I could never break past the 1300s. No matter how many practice tests I took or how many tips I memorized, I felt like I had hit a wall. I was really frustrated and down on myself.
Kenneth changed that immediately. He didn’t throw a bunch of one-size-fits-all tricks at me. He actually took the time to understand how I think — where I was strong, where I was guessing, and where I was overthinking. He made the reading and grammar sections feel logical, not random. And for the first time, I understood why I was getting things wrong.
His focus on critical thinking was a game-changer. Instead of memorizing rules, I learned how to read like the test makers wanted me to — what they were really asking, what was bait, and how to stay grounded. Every session was tailored to what I needed that week — no wasted time, no fluff.
I ended up going from a 1280 to a 1500. That number still shocks me when I say it. But even beyond the score, I walked into the test center calm and confident for the first time. I knew I could handle whatever they threw at me — and I did.

When people talk about the college essay being the ‘most personal part of the application,’ I didn’t realize how hard that would actually be. My life isn’t dramatic. I don’t have a big ‘aha’ moment. Everything I wrote felt generic or like I was trying too hard.
Kenneth helped me turn that around completely. Instead of trying to invent a story, he helped me look inward — and showed me that meaning can come from the smallest, most honest moments. He asked the right questions, helped me dig deeper, and pushed me to be real, not just impressive.
Our brainstorming sessions felt more like therapy than tutoring (in the best way), and the writing process finally felt like mine. Kenneth didn’t write anything for me — but he made sure what I wrote actually sounded like me, just sharper and more focused.
In the end, I submitted essays that I felt proud of. And I got into schools I never thought would say yes. But more importantly, I felt like I had told my story — the real one — and that meant everything
Meet with Me
Some families are surprised that I charge for intro consultations — especially when other tutors or counseling services offer a “free call.” But here’s why I don’t:
For years, I gave my time away for free. I’d offer insight, suggestions, even partial school lists or test strategies — and many calls turned out to be one-time advice grabs. It wasn’t sustainable. Worse, it started taking time and energy away from the students who had already committed to working with me.
So I made a change: I now charge a $99 consultation fee, which is fully credited toward any tutoring session or college counseling package you choose afterward.
This simple shift has made a big difference — for me and for the serious students and families I work with. Here’s what to expect:
You’ll meet directly with me — no assistants, no sales reps
After you schedule your consultation, you’ll receive a short questionnaire. It’s designed to give me a clear understanding of your current situation — whether you're prepping for the SAT, building a college list, stuck on essays, or just feeling overwhelmed by the entire process.
I review every response before we meet: your academic background, testing history, goals, concerns — everything that will help me show up to our call prepared with tangible advice and a plan specific to you.
This means we won’t spend our call going through generic questions or running down a sales script. Instead, we’ll jump straight into strategy — outlining next steps and discussing how I can best support you based on what you're trying to achieve.
This isn’t a discovery call — it’s the start of a working relationship. And if you’re ready to get serious about your goals, I’ll make sure the time is well spent.
